An area within the central-northern Mount Painter basement inlier that surrounds the rugged granite massif of Freeling Heights was explored via helicopter-assisted regional stream sediment sampling (2386 samples at an average sample density of 22.8 samples per square mile). Three main areas of coherent copper anomalism were identified, one of which, covering 2.5 square miles, is a new discovery which appears to be sourced within the Radium Creek Metamorphics on the north-eastern side of the Mudnawatana Granitic intrusion. In addition, a number of unexplained minor copper anomalies were found which are worthy of follow-up, and which may also have associated uranium potential requiring initial assessment by ground radioactivity surveys. A promising zone of Zn-Pb anomalism was also seen within the Tapley Hill Formation south-west of Tindelpina Hut.
