In late November 2012, three adjoining areas in the central Gawler Craton were taken up by Woomera Exploration Limited (WEX), an unlisted public company, for the purpose of minerals exploration. Within the subject licence area, the easternmost of the three, which abuts on its eastern side the Continuous Use Zone of the Commonwealth Government's Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA), the company's exploration target is possible economic buried IOCG type base and precious metals mineralisation that may have formed in Mesoproterozoic basement rocks. During the first licence year the company performed a desktop review of previous exploration data for the subject area. In the available magnetic data set it was found that the TMI data is dominated by the magnetic responses generated by the Gairdner Dyke Swarm. Around 30 mineral exploration holes appeared to have been drilled within the whole of the project area: most were drilled to 700 m thickness of cover present over most of its Myntabyng Project tenements, except for the southern portion of EL 5113, would make exploration of the crystalline basement there prohibitively expensive. Therefore the company decided early in 2015 to fully surrender both ELs 5114 and 5115.
