Exploration Licence (EL) 2570 Mt Parry was granted to Magnesium Developments Limited on the 4 January 1999. Exploration within EL 2570 focussed on magnesite (MgCO3), which occurs within a sequence of interbeds with the Neoproterozoic, Skillogalee Dolomite, “characterised by repetitive lithologies” of dolomite, magnesite, siltstone, and sandstone. The Leigh Creek magnesite deposits of EL 2570 extend northwest from Leigh Creek South town site 120 km, into the Willouran Ranges. The tenement is located 30 kilometres north-west of the town ship of Leigh Creek, 275 km north of Port Augusta. Exploration licence 2570 contains a portion of the Pug Hill deposit, a defined “World-Class” high-grade, low impurity, measured magnesite resource of 20 million tonnes averaging 42% MgO. In the two years to 3rd January 2002, reporting appears to cover all tenements, RLs and MLs held under the Northern Flinders Ranges Magnesite Project. Trail mining to extract a 100t magnesite bulk samples from the Mt Hutton Proven Ore Reserve was undertaken to the southeast of the tenement. Selective mining methods were utilised during the mining that differentiated between the steeply dipping tabular magnesite beds and the dolomite interburden. Once the bulk sample was assayed, they were able to demonstrate the close correlation between the actual measure ore grade and the grade estimated generated from a resource model, and with that verify the effectiveness of the selective mining technique. A number of Mineral Claims (MC 3236, 3237, 3240, 3243, 3244) and Retention Leases (RL 97, 98) have been applied for and pegged over EL 2570 at Pug Hill and Mt Playfair following earlier successful magnesite exploration and resource definition work. No work was completed on EL 2570 from 4th January 2002 to 3rd January 2004. As such no technical reports were submitted.
