Numerous small siliceous ironstone outcrops, associated with an extensive fault system evident in outcropping Arcoona Quartzite in an area south of Andamooka, were investigated for base metals by taking grab rock chip samples for assaying, and by drilling 3 exploratory percussion holes, for a total penetration of 150 feet, into two of the ironstone outcrops. The ironstones are not gossans, but instead were found to be mainly ferruginised cappings on the quartzite, or else have formed as a cementing matrix for fault-brecciated quartzite. Assays of the drill cuttings gave extremely low metal values. A zinc geochemical anomaly (0.3% Zn) detected in Arcoona Creek now appears to be the result of scavenging by iron and manganese oxides that infill joints in the quartzitic bedrock. No viable targets remain to test, and so it was recommended that the licence be surrendered.
