An area centred approximately 115 km south-east of Marla was taken up to explore for possible economic buried gold and base metal mineralisation that may have formed in Archaean to Proterozoic basement rocks or the overlying Palaeozoic sedimentary cover of the Officer and Arckaringa basins. A review of the regional geological setting and records of past exploration activities was done initially, which identified a gap in previously targeted commodities represented by potential palaeochannel uranium deposits that might exist in the Tertiary Tallaringa Palaeochannel sediments reported to exist in the licence area. An exploration approach was devised by Woomera Exploration which prioritised a search for possible stratabound, Mississippi Valley type Cu-Pb-Zn mineralisation that could be hosted within the Cambrian Observatory Hill Beds, and secondarily could address evaluating this shallower level uranium potential. Due to continuing difficulties with raising enough private equity funding to meet its legal commitments for licence ownership, let alone being able to support an ambitious multi-tenement work programme, the licensee applied on 13/2/2015 to surrender the subject licence.
