Four diamond drillholes (nos M5 to M8, totalling 3015 feet) put down at the Mutooroo Ridge copper prospect to investigate coincident IP and geochemical anomalies, or to confirm previous shallow indications of sulphide mineralisation, failed to disclose exploitable lodes. All 8 holes drilled by Longreach on this prospect since January 1971 have intersected a number of steeply north-westerly dipping lenses of patchy, low grade secondary copper mineralization. It is thought that the ore-bearing zone may be limited in depth extent, but also that it may persist laterally for some distance to the south-west, parallel to the Anabama - Redan Fault zone.
