The subject very small licence area, located approximately 25 km north-west of Cleve, and which lies within the northern part of the NNE trending Kimban Campoona Syncline region located on central Eyre Peninsula, has been explored, in concert with work being done on adjacent acreage, by Lincoln Minerals, who are targeting a large range of potentially economic basement-hosted polymetallic and other mineral occurrences including iron ore, Menninnie Dam style Pb-Zn-Ag (Cu-Au) mineralisation, Ni-Co, graphite, manganese and unconformity type uranium. Centrex Metals is co-venturing with Lincoln Minerals so as to earn all of the rights to exploit any economic iron ore deposits which the area might contain. Activity during Year 1 of EL 4593 consisted only of a review of past exploration, with no field work undertaken. During July 2012, part of a TEMPEST airborne EM and aeromagnetic survey was flown over the three Cockabidnie Project licence areas, its cost being partly subsidised by a grant of funds made available through Year 1 of the PACE 2020 Targeting module that is managed by the SA Government in order to promote new mineral exploration technologies (cf. Env 12371). The purpose of flying the survey was the JV Project partners' wish to try to identify extensions to known epithermal/metamorphic Ni-Co (Sc) mineralisation previously found associated with amphibolite bodies in the Campoona Syncline on EL 4883 Cockabidnie. Also, due to a recent spike in the price of graphite, outlining possible commercial occurrences of that commodity became a secondary objective of the survey. No significant conductive anomalies were evident within EL 4539, but several promising ones were identified to the south on EL 4883. During the next licence year, the technical review of past exploration results was continued with special emphasis on graphite. Records of past CRA diamond drillholes encountering graphite schist led to Lincoln Minerals inspecting and relogging some stored drill cores, besides taking spot samples of the schist to assay. However, no past drillhole data existed for EL 4539. No further work of note was performed before the decision was made to surrender the licence.

Notes: Tenure of the whole area covered by its former, inadvertently lapsed EL 3498 was belatedly renewed by Lincoln Minerals during August 2010 as EL 4539, after a 7-month hiatus caused by the company's oversight in applying within the correct timeframe for Year 5 of the grant licence. Consequently, during January 2011 DMITRE released to open file all data pertaining to EL 3498(see Env 11330).
