A small area centred ~80 km south-southeast of Whyalla was taken up because grant licensee Destiny Stone Australia became aware, through reviewing previous exploration records for the Moonta-Wallaroo region, that in this locality there is an arcuate zone of subcropping Oorlano Metasomatite (Harlequin Stone) extending sub-parallel to the eastern Spencer Gulf coastline over a distance of 16.5 km, with a width of up to 3 km. This rock occurrence was thought to be prospective for its dimension stone value and viable quarrying potential. During the first licence year, Destiny Stone performed land title searches for the area and served Notices of Entry on 29 freehold landowners. An initial field reconnaissance was completed to check access for drilling. No outcrops of the target dimension stone were located. Early in the year, a joint venture was established with Uranium West Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Crescent Gold Limited, to allow that company to earn a majority interest in the licence by exploring it for economic metallic mineralisation, primarily possible buried copper-gold occurrences. Uranium West began its work programme by reviewing previous exploration data to identify the most prospective areas of the covered basement, paying most attention to the drill core samples of holes previously drilled by Phelps Dodge, which are stored in the PIRSA Moonta Core Library. A field reconnaissance of the licence area was conducted in September 2008, to inspect the sites of the historical drilling and understand their regional geological setting. During the next six years of tenure, no work was done on the subject licence. Planned geophysical surveys and drilling did not eventuate.
