In the last phase of exploration for possible buried economic heavy mineral (HM) sands marine placer deposits in the district extending between Waikerie, Blanchetown and parts of the north-western Murray Mallee, the only field work undertaken was reconnaissance RC aircore drilling in mid-2013 of 32 widely spaced vertical open holes with a total penetration of 951 m. Panning of recovered drill cuttings collected at 1-metre depth intervals did not disclose any significant (>1% HM) mineralisation. Therefore no samples were submitted for laboratory heavy mineral analysis. Gamma ray tool downhole wireline logging was conducted as an aid to defining the cover stratigraphy. The tenements have since then been deemed to be non-prospective for HM, based on the licensee's drilling results and those of previous explorers, and so have now been fully surrendered.
