Two adjoining large areas in the southern Murraylands are being explored for possible economic buried Pliocene heavy mineral sands (HM) marine placer deposits. Both Mindarie type palaeobeach strandline HM occurrences and basin margin headland - related HM trap deposits are being sought. During the first licence year, activities were restricted to performing land access negotiations with Native Title custodian groups, and inspecting available remote sensing datasets to try to identify any prospective geological features. During licence Year 2, plans were made to conduct a preliminary reconnaissance aircore drilling campaign along the sides of secondary roads in the district. First partial relinquishments of both subject licences were separately effected on 25/7/2006, when a combined 220 square km or ~16% of the original area of them was dropped, this being ground located directly over the River Murray riparine zone that would likely have attracted insurmountable environmental protection issues. During licence Year 3, in November 2007, the initial aircore drilling was conducted along three regional traverses on the eastern side of the river. 102 vertical open holes spaced 100 m apart and closing in to 50 m apart were completed for a total penetration of 2316 m. In general no significant size or grade HM accumulations were found, apart from one lens 4 to 10 m thick and 450 m wide which carried 0.5% to 1.17% HM. During licence Years 4 and 5, no field work was done. Second partial relinquishments of three portions of outlying ground on the western side of the river were made on 25/7/2008. No work had been done on these.
