Exploration for possible sedimentary uranium deposits buried within the Tertiary fluvial sequence deposited to the west and south-west of Lake Callabonna comprised part of a regional aerial scintillometric survey, and the drilling and gamma logging of 18 rotary drillholes totalling 11,090 feet. All drillholes ended in altered Cainozoic or Mesozoic sediments. Anomalous radioactivity was intersected in several of the holes, associated with geochemical evidence of past roll-front uranium mineralisation moving through certain mapped sand units. Further drilling in the vicinity of these holes is recommended to try to intersect any still active ore depositional fronts.
