GEL 297, 300,301 and 302 were granted to Inferus Resources Pty Ltd on 12th August 2008. Inferus Resources are a wholly subsidiary of Southern Gold Ltd. GEL 300, 301 and 302 coincided approximately with Mineral Exploration Licences 3513 and 3515 that had been granted to Southern Gold previously on 31st January 2006. A further 18 contiguous GEL licences (462_463,and 465_480) were granted on 12th August 2009 over the Torrens Hinge Zone along the entire western side of Lake Torrens. The total area of all licences was approximately 10000km2 and the project was known as the Roxby Geothermal Project (RGP). A number of current and previous drill holes were the focus of temperature logging for Temperature Gradient calculations and Thermal Conductivity measurements on available core. Heat Flow modelling was completed by Hot Dry Rocks Pty Ltd as well as Resource Estimation. Good reliable, recent data is sparse over the licence areas except for GEL 300 and 302 and there was strong recommendation for collaboration with current Mineral Licence holders to maximise the benefits of any future deep drilling. None the less, appraisal of all available data and the results of current studies suggested an EGS (Engineered Geothermal System) could be developed in the licence area. Unfortunately with the downturn in support for geothermal exploration, all licences were surrendered on 2nd August 2010 before the end of the 2nd licence year.
