Two small ground portions together totalling 20.9 square km or ~42% of the former area of EL 4480 have been relinquished in partial fulfilment of the terms of the 2014 Flinders Ranges Project tenements' Amalgamated Expenditure Agreement made with DMITRE. The only field work that was undertaken on the now relinquished licence portions was a small programme of soil pXRF spectrometric scanning and rock chip geochemical sampling conducted in the central tenement block in late 2014. This work was undertaken as part of a more extensive programme targeting the historic Red Range prospect/base metal occurrence lying predominantly on Perilya's EL 5367 Copley to the north. On EL 4480, a single traverse involving 41 pXRF scans was read at the southern end of the Red Range prospect, but no significant base metal anomalism was detected, the scan semi-quantitative readings being <250 ppm for Pb+Zn and <100 ppm for Cu. Four grab rock chip samples were also collected from this prospect from a limonitic horizon which trends southwards on to EL 4480 for over 1 km of strike. Although trace element anomalism could not be exactly determined due to the altered/weathered nature of this horizon, laboratory assaying did return moderately anomalous results of up to 4100 ppm Zn and 800 ppm Pb, plus strongly anomalous copper values up to 1405 ppm Cu. Perilya has concluded that no untested targets remain on the relinquished portions of EL 4480. On the central sub-block, the pXRF soil scanning has effectively defined the southern limit of the Red Range Pb+Zn anomaly, which does not appear to extend onto EL 4480. Anomalous copper found by the concurrent rock chip sampling is believed to be a feature which is ubiquitous in the region and is often encountered within the calcareous Parachilna Formation near its stratigraphic contact with underlying Neoproterozoic rocks. No significant haematitic alteration was noted in the area, suggesting limited potential for hosting a Beltana style zinc silicate deposit. The relinquished portion of the northern sub-block is wholly occupied by outcropping Proterozoic bedrock or Quaternary cover sediments, and is also considered to have limited potential for zinc silicate mineralisation to occur.
