The subject two relinquished portions of EL 4538 form part of a much larger tenement package currently being explored by Perilya, primarily looking for zinc silicate mineralisation similar to the Beltana deposit, although the northern Flinders Ranges region is also regarded as being quite prospective for lead-zinc sulphide and copper mineralisation. The only field work completed by Perilya on the now relinquished portions of the subject tenement was a reconnaissance geochemical program of hand-held Niton XRF instrumental scans of soil samples (575 readings taken) plus selective rock chip sampling (11 samples sent for laboratory chemical analysis) completed on the northernmost block between June and September 2014. The work was aimed at evaluating targets identified from Aster multispectral data acquired over the entire Flinders Project acreage in late 2011. Three targets on EL 4538, PAR-2, 3 & 4, were defined using Aster ratio images of iron mineral species spectral responses to identify potential areas of haematite alteration within the known Cambrian strata. The XRF soil surveying was done over these targets on an initial 500 m line spacing, with infill at 250 m spacing where warranted. A single moderately anomalous result of 1264 ppm Zn was returned from the PAR-2 target, however, follow-up XRF soil surveying on either side of the anomaly did not return any significant results. Soil surveying over the PAR-3 target also returned a handful of weakly anomalous zinc readings ranging from 656-1135 ppm Zn. The results were returned from an irregular iron and manganese-stained and weathered area (up to 33% Fe, 36% Mn). No significant base metal results were returned from the PAR-4 target. The rock chip sampling results displayed no significant trace element dispersion haloes of the kind that Perilya has recognised from studies that it has made of the North Moolooloo zinc silicate deposit. Two samples collected within manganiferous carbonate rocks in the PAR-3 target area returned anomalous zinc values of 5470 and 2020 ppm Zn. Overall, the weak to moderate base metal anomalism identified on the now surrendered ground was of apparently limited extent, and was not considered to be sourced by any concealed bedrock mineralisation.
