GEL 169 was granted to Eden Energy Ltd on 9th May 2005 for an initial term of 5 years. The licence was centred on a large distinctive anomalous gravity low anticipated to be due to a large granitic body. The target for this licence was late stage granitic plutons rich in decaying radioactive minerals covered by 2-3000m of sediments. It was hoped that these conditions may exist in parts of the southern Cooper basin. The project was known as the Bollards lagoon Project Modelling of temperature data suggested that suitable temperatures may exist at 3-4000m. Hot Dry Rocks Pty Ltd completed a review of the licence area and concluded that there existed reasonable prospectivity in the area but that the nature of the basement material represented the greatest risk to the project. An MT Survey was recorded during 2008 over a profile distance of approximately 23kms. Sedimentary cover was interpreted to be 1.2 to 1.5 kms in thickness along this profile. No further work was completed and the licence expired on 4th November 2011.
