GEL 185 was granted to Eden Energy Ltd on 14th May 2005 for an initial term of 5 years. The licence was centred on the Moomba North area adjacent to the Geodynamics Habanero Project. The target for this licence was late stage granitic plutons rich in decaying radioactive minerals covered by 2-3000m of sediments. It has been verified that these conditions exist in this part of the Nappamerri Trough where temperatures greater than 250 degrees at depths over 4400m have been observed. The project was known as the Moomba project. High geothermal gradients, and thick sedimentary sequences make the area prospective for not only Engineered Geothermal Systems (EGS) but also Deep Buried Sedimentary Aquifer potential. An MT Survey was recorded during 2008 over a profile distance of approximately 43 kms. No further work was completed in the licence area and the licence expired on 7th January 2013.
