Approximately 30% of the area of EL 4726 has been relinquished after the licensee decided that magnetic anomalies being investigated therein hold diminished potential for the discovery of economic uranium mineralisation that could be associated with Olympic Dam style IOCG deposits, or alternatively, could exist as vein deposits or sedimentary uranium deposits. At the Barna Hill tenement, regional soil geochemical sampling has been conducted on a 1 km x 1 km grid spacing, followed by infill sampling over anomalous areas to a sample density of 100 m. All of the soil samples were sent to Genalysis (Intertek) for partial leach analysis via the laboratory's TL8 method. This uses a weakly alkaline leach to strip ions from the sand and clay particles, the theory being that the ions have migrated upwards from weathered basement through the regolith and deposited from water vapour just below the soil surface. The method relies on subsequent ultra-low levels of analyte detection, and is specifically tailored for uranium exploration, but is also suitable for disclosing a wide range of elements. A subset of the licence soil geochemical assay results, produced by samples from the now relinquished area, is herewith released to open file. These 24 samples yielded only weak trace element anomalism.
