GEL 207 was granted to Granite Power on 19th July 2005 for an initial term of 5 years. The tenement was located approximately 20kms south west of Roxby Downs and was chosen to investigate the geothermal potential of basement rocks overlain by a thick sequence of Proterozoic sediments. Exploration activities included a compilation of key geophysical maps, a Review of the Geothermal prospectivity for GEL 207, an Environmental Assessment Report prepared for the proposed Bambridge Well #1, a reinterpretation of Regional Magnetics and Gravity, plus a Thermal Conductivity Analysis and 1D Thermal Modelling project. Conclusions reached through the studies above suggest that the thickness of insulating material for the area of GEL 207 to be less than 1500m plus there appears to be an absence of radiogenic granites at depth. Following the investigation of thermal conductivity of the sedimentary sequence in the area it is prognosed that the chance of intersecting temperatures in the 200 degree range is unlikely at depths shallower than 5000m. The licence was finally surrendered on 23/12/2009 before entering the 5th Licence year.
