Contiguous licences GEL 241 and 242 were granted to MNGI Ltd for an initial period of 5 years on 26th February 2007. MNGI Pty Ltd are a wholly owned subsidiary of Petratherm Ltd. The main focus of the location of these 2 tenements was the Palaeozoic, northeast trending Renmark Trough which underlies the Tertiary Murray Basin. Thermal conductivity measurements were made on 7 samples from the only 3 available cored drill holes in the licence area, namely Berri North 1, Monash 1and Cooltong 1. The University of Adelaide recorded the 2009 Renmark Magneto Telluric Survey involving 25 stations over 2 NW-SE traverses crossing both the Hamley Fault and also the Renmark Trough. Basement depths of between 3 and 4000m were indicated in a simple graben structure and gravity modelling for the area suggests that the entire gravity anomaly can be explained with this interpretation. Little evidence was presented to suggest heat producing granites occurred at depth underlying the Renmark Trough. Thermal modelling for the area suggested a temperature of 120-140degrees at a depth of 4000m which is well below the target for a commercial project. Both licences were subsequently surrendered on 23rd February 2010.
