An area taken up to comprise the middle member of a block of three tenements located in the Myall Creek region ~ 30 km west-southwest of Port Augusta has been explored for possible economic buried stratabound copper sulphide mineralisation as well as for any related basement-hosted primary base metal deposits. During the first year of tenure, a combined study group was formed with potential Chinese investors and a field reconnaissance visit was undertaken. From observations made on that visit the conclusion was drawn that the overburden in the licence area may be too thick to allow for economic development of the Myall Creek secondary, unconformity - related erosional type copper deposit, while the subject ground is located too far west to be prospective for massive Cultana breccia style IOCG mineralisation. No field work occurred on the licence for the succeeding eight and a half years. During licence Year 7, Kingston Resources Limited (the parent to U Energy) continued to assess the large amount of existing drilling and geophysical data sets for the now EL 5379 ground, plus its surrounds, to help develop a valid exploration programme. The company believed that the area is highly prospective for IOCG mineralisation in the basement units, and therefore was attempting to identify areas where the likely depth to basement is less than 500 m and where it thought anomalous geophysical features are present. Kingston was also encouraged by the sedimentary copper potential of the area subtended by the basal contact of the Tapley Hill Formation, and so was investigating the existing drillhole and geophysical data for any indications of thicker or higher grade target zones. Eventually, Kingston decided to fully surrender the tenement, due to a shift in the company's focus away from exploring for IOCG mineral occurrences undercover to instead searching for economic lithium and gold deposits.
