In Phoenix Copper's opinion, although several previous explorers had investigated the Spalding Inlier area, many targets remained insufficiently tested. The principal structural target the company wished to explore is the intersection between an apparent north-westerly alignment of historical copper workings and a major north-south striking structural discontinuity. The structural discontinuity is defined by coincident regional magnetic linear anomalies and the western, fault-bounded margin of the Spalding Inlier. The historic shallow copper workings appear to be spatially related to a possible north-west jog associated with the positive magnetic features. The structural target is the low pressure, dilational jog defined by aeromagnetic features. Hydrothermal alteration may be related to the emplacement of high level intrusive igneous rocks and to enhanced fluid flow along faults which bound the western margin of the anticlinal core of the inlier, especially the steep westwards-dipping thrust. During the first year of reporting, no on-ground exploration activities were undertaken, with the company focusing on desktop studies on the historical exploration of the tenement and investigating its exploration potential. The targets are structurally controlled near surface copper oxide deposits. Potential exists for near surface copper oxide deposits, which may be amenable to open-cut mining, and may be suitable for onsite low-cost solvent extraction-electrowinning (SX-EW) operations. During the second year of reporting and the first year under Phoenix Copper, exploration work consisted of a review of existing geophysical data, several site visits and an extensive soil sampling program and rock chip sampling. A total of 64 rock chip samples and 497 sieved soil samples were collected in the northern half of the tenement around the old workings at Ardincaple and Broughton. Significant zones of anomalous results were recorded overlying the Neoproterozoic Willouran Spalding inlier and its eastern contact with the adjacent Neoproterozoic Torrensian rocks for Cu > 80 ppm, Cr >60 ppm, Mn >500 ppm , and Ni >30 ppm. A number (72) of historical drill holes and geochemical samples were georeferenced and added to the company database. During the third year of reporting, exploration included an extensive geochemical survey across the northern half of the tenement along with RAB drilling of 20 holes (PCRB038 - PCRB057) for 1551 m across 4 prospects within the tenement. A total of 4992 surface portable XRF readings were taken, utilising 2 different machines consisting of 4610 readings using the InnovX instrument and 382 readings using the Niton instrument. The drilling program was to test several Cu anomalies identified previously across the tenement at the Frome, Quarry, Eyres and Fenceline Prospects. Rock chip samples were analysed with both pXRF and laboratory analysis. The best intersects were retuned in drillholes PCRB045 59 – 62 m @ 3600 ppm Cu (lab results) and PCRB057 56 – 58 m @ 5100 ppm Cu.
