Two small areas have been taken up in the Cleve Uplands district to explore structurally interesting portions of the Lower and Upper Middleback Jaspilite stratigraphic units for possible economic buried copper, gold, manganese and iron ore occurrences. Despite extensive past small-scale mining of supergene mineralisation, the deeper bedrock there has received little attention by previous explorers. Several major shear and fault structures cut through the area and could have provided a plumbing network for ascending mineralising solutions. Dolomite and amphibolite lithologies within the fractured Palaeoproterozoic bedrock could have provided a fertile geochemical environment into which economic minerals may have precipitated. Work undertaken by the licensee during the first year of tenure comprised limited rock chip sampling (55 samples) of outcrops of interest, for laboratory multi-element analysis, plus the reprocessing of available airborne magnetic and gravity data to highlight linear structures and possible intrusive igneous bodies. During licence Year 2, Archer changed tack to focus on graphite potential, and reviewed past exploration reports seeking information about this commodity, including whether any EM survey data might be available. Some historic petrology report mentions of graphite occurrences were identified. No field work was done. During licence Year 3, Archer examined stored drill cores from others' past drilling to assess whether the rocks drilled had any graphite potential. 101 selected core samples were assayed for a multi-element suite and for carbon. Ten chip samples of core were sent out for petrological examination. The consultant reported back that their graphite contents were either low (<5%) or of a very fine-grained nature (particle sizes averaging less than 30 microns), and hence the historically drilled rocks are regarded as uneconomic. During licence Year 4, Archer acquired a subset of an airborne EM (RepTEM) survey in July 2012 across parts of both sub-blocks of EL 4277, when 566.2 line km of 50 Hz AEM data were read along east-west orientated flight lines spaced 100 m apart, using a 30 m mean sensor height above the ground surface. Coverage in the western sub-block was aimed at evaluating its graphite prospectivity, while that over the eastern sub-block was intended to profile base metal prospects. 15 rock chip samples of altered lithologies found in outcrop within the eastern sub-block were laboratory assayed. During March 2013, 8 either inclined or vertical open RC holes for 696 m were drilled on AEM anomalies within the western sub-block to try to find their sources. However, no metallic or graphite mineralisation was encountered, nor were any sulphides apparent, so the conductive sources for the anomalies remained unexplained. During licence Year 5, Archer's activities were limited to rock chip geochemical sampling and geological mapping. 35 rock chip samples collected from the licence's western sub-block were laboratory assayed, and one sample of an altered dolomite unit was said to have returned almost 1% total rare earths (for assay values not converted to oxides) plus 0.17 g/t Au and 800 ppm Cu. The mapping performed in conjunction with the sampling that Archer did back in 2012 was said to have revealed an inferred 'vector for epithermal gold mineralisation', which has since then been traced for several km by the latest mapping, and so for field identification purposes the company has informally called it the Patricia breccia. During licence Years 6 and 7, on renewed EL 5434 consisting of two sub-blocks covering the same area as before, Archer Exploration did no new work. During licence Year 8, no new work was completed. During licence Year 9, no on ground exploration activities were undertaken. A partial surrender of approximately 7 km2 occurred during the reporting period [see separate report - ENV 12029 CNO:2042193]. A review of previous electromagnetic surveys was undertaken with a view to targeting copper mineralisation.
