GEL 309 was granted to Tri Star Energy on 14th May 2008. This licence was located some 10kms due south of the Cordillo Downs Homestead and 90 km north of Innamincka township and was called the Marabooka Project. It was envisaged that the licence area contains heat producing granites at depth with some 3000m of sedimentary cover. Investigations conducted focussed on heating organic fluids through a single production bore using the organic Rankine Cycle. The main benefits of using the Rankine Cycle technique are the requirement for a low Boiling Point organic liquid only. No field work was ever conducted and the licence was surrendered on 5th June 2012.
