3 contiguous licences, GEL491, 492 and 493 were granted to Geothermal Resources Ltd, a subsidiary company of Havilah Resources Pty Ltd on 12th May 2009. These licences were all located over the Yalkalpo sub basin area of the Arrowie Basin. Initial focus of these licences was to determine the depth to basement in the area, basement lithologies and the location of any buried granitic bodies. It was alo intended to model and measure temperatures and geothermal gradients from existing drillholes as part of the overall assessment of the area for geothermal energy potential. Due to an interpreted shallow basement depth the licences were surrendered on 9th April 2010 before the end of the first licence year.
