Exploration for possible economic epithermal, shear-related Proterozoic copper-gold deposits which could have formed in bedrock underlying the floor of Lake Gairdner North is continuing, but exists in principle only, as no field work has yet begun due to ongoing legal constraints. After the renewal of tenure of the subject licence over the same area as held previously, Rudy Gomez prepared and submitted to PIRSA for approval two Declarations of Environmental Factors (DEF), one for proposed low impact exploration work on Lake Gairdner North (ground geophysical surveys and geochemical sampling), and one for proposed drilling. These documents were both approved late in 2009, but the commencement of work remained in abeyance pending a decision of the State Minister for Aboriginal Affairs on the licensee's earlier application for a Ministerial determination under section 23 of the Aboriginal Heritage Act, to give exploration access onto the lake. This decision has not yet been reached. An agreement between the Gawler Ranges Native Title claimants and Tarcila Resources was signed on 13/11/2009, regarding the mutual benefits to accrue from allowing exploration to proceed, and a copy was sent to the State Government. No exploration work has been possible over the succeeding four licence years, because of the continuing ban originally imposed by the SA Minister of Aboriginal Affairs on the licensee legally accessing Lake Gairdner North.
