In June 2005, Lindsay Curtis was engaged by Quasar Resources and Alliance Development to prepare an expert preliminary report on the prospectivity of the so-called "Beverley 4-Mile" sedimentary uranium mineralisation occurrence, which the joint venturers had discovered two months earlier while doing exploratory drilling of Recent and older piedmont alluvial fans in an area located 6-8 km west-northwest of the Beverley uranium mine, close to the Paralana Fault Zone. The conclusions from his report include the following insights: • The mineralisation at Beverley 4 Mile is hosted in the Eyre Formation, the same unit which hosts the Honeymoon and the Billeroo Palaeochannel/Gould’s Dam mineralisation. The conditions necessary for uranium precipitation to occur within this unit are well demonstrated, and therefore the potential for making additional discoveries within it near the Mount Painter region rangefront is considered to be excellent. • The mineralisation is structurally discontinuous and is mainly confined to three fault-bound structural domains. The current sources of data about its occurrence are too widely spaced to allow for a reliable estimation of ore continuity both within these domains and across their bounding faults. Nonetheless, the indicated 24 square km areal extent of the mineralisation and its apparent thicknesses are encouraging for the future delineation of a highly significant economic resource. [Available data on the discovery originated from a reconnaissance drilling programme of 63 vertical rotary mud holes undertaken along north-south traverses, where the initial holes were spaced at 2 km centres, later closing in to 400 m x 400 m spacing; uranium mineralisation was encountered in 24 of the first 40 holes, with the discovery hole being AK010 which was logged on 25/4/2005. Notably, hole AK051 intersected thick high grade uranium mineralisation within clayey, carbonaceous sands over the depth interval 139.5-153.0 m (13.5 m) at an average logged grade of 0.440% eU3O8.] • Observed elevation shifts in top of mineralisation and palaeo-basement surface are in the same sense and of similar magnitude. • The probability of this structural displacement having occurred post- the formation of mineralisation is reasonably strong, but ore remobilisation may also have occurred after the structuring event(s). • Emplacement of the mineralisation within the sedimentary strata, as depicted by gamma ray log responses, has been distributed in spiky fashion, and it seems to often lie within finer grained and potentially relatively less permeable sediment. Some evidence to hand suggests that the mineralisation may be affected by secular radiometric disequilibrium, as has been shown to exist at Beverley. • Characterisation studies of the mineralisation should continue, and a working geological and mineralisation model should be compiled as soon as possible to guide prospect evaluation drilling. • Potential exists in the area for defining one or more commercially viable resources.
