A large area centred approximately 170 km south-west of Coober Pedy is being explored for possible economic buried secondary uranium mineralisation in the form of palaeochannel - hosted roll front or unconformity type deposits which may have formed within the Cenozoic sedimentary cover. The area is also considered prospective for Archaean basement - hosted “Challenger style” gold mineralisation that might occur within the Christie Gneiss. Dominion’s Challenger gold mine lies 25 km east of the eastern border of EL 3775. No field work was conducted during either of the second or third licence years, but office-based geophysical studies were continued, aimed at defining the distribution of inferred Tertiary palaeochannel tributaries for on-ground exploration follow-up. Sparse historic drillhole data and regional stratigraphic studies being conducted by PIRSA (Hou et al. 2007) indicate that parts of the Anthony, Woldra and Garford palaeochannel systems cover a substantial part of the licence area. During 2008-2009, Marmota conducted processing of the three new geophysical survey datasets (gravity, electromagnetic and magnetic plus radiometric) which it had acquired in licence Year 1.
