An area centred ~145 km west-northwest of Coober Pedy, and extending northwards for ~40 km from near the Anne Beadell Highway, has been explored for possible buried economic mineralisation that may occur in basement rocks of the Gawler Craton and the immediately overlying cover sediments. Inferred deposit types included Olympic Dam style iron oxide - associated copper-gold (IOCG) sulphides, Mississippi Valley style base metal sulphide mineralisation within the Observatory Hill Beds of the Officer Basin, and Challenger style metamorphic gold deposits within the Archaean-Proterozoic Mulgathing Complex. During the first licence year, Woomera Exploration (WEX) reviewed past exploration reports and data for the Nawa Domain region, and devised an exploration programme initally aimed to test for sulphides within the Observatory Hill Beds and also to identify areas of shallow basement subcrop. During licence Year 2, in February 2015, following its review of open file reports, published geoscientific papers and geophysical data, WEX decided to relinquish the northern 76% of EL 5292 because the crystalline basement there appeared to be covered by a thick sequence of Arckaringa Basin and Officer Basin sediments, which would make for too expensive exploration of the basement rocks. No field work was done. WEX made plans to conduct a ground gravity survey, to extend the recent 500 m x 500 m SA Government 2013 WPA gravity coverage into EL 5292, to progress target generation in the retained licence portion. No further on the subject licence ensued, before a decision was made at the end of Year 3 to allow tenure to lapse.
