No field work was conducted in the second year of EL 2978 ending on 26/6/2004. However, other activities undertaken by Southern Cross Resources had a direct bearing on sedimentary uranium exploration of EL 2978, i.e. during January 2004, the company completed construction and commissioning of a wireline logging truck for use on the company’s mineral tenements, and in February the company acquired a specialised, prompt fission neutron (PFN) downhole geophysical tool to directly measure the grade of any uranium mineralisation that it might encounter in newly drilled exploratory holes. Purpose-built test pits for deploying the radiometric sources required to calibrate this tool were installed at the Honeymoon uranium mine, and the tool was then initially used successfully in new drilling done on mineralised zones at Honeymoon and on EL 2956 Goulds Dam. During licence Year 3, a detailed GPS gravity survey was conducted in July 2004 across an area centred approximately 10 km east of Curnamona Homestead, with 1180 stations read along 42 lines within a 1 km x 1 km offset grid. The aim of the survey was to identify heterogeneous features within the Tertiary palaeosurface into which the palaeodrainage system was incised, and hence delineate possible former trap sites where organic material might have accumulated as a likely precursor to uranium precipitation. The new gravity data successfully outlined the Billeroo and Curnamona palaeodrainage systems. During licence Year 4, Uranium One Australia Pty Ltd [following a corporate merger and related change of licensee corporate name made on 6/1/2006] tested prospective portions of the Curnamona Palaeochannel, outlined by the AEM and gravity surveys, by completing 26 vertical rotary mud open drillholes totalling 3494 m along three regional traverses. The drilling intersected well developed, mainly reduced sequences of Eyre Formation fluvial sands containing some low tenor uranium mineralisation as defined by the PFN logging tool: the best results were obtained from logging sands in drillhole KAT008, which have up to 0.0042% U3O8 content. During licence Year 5, no exploration work was undertaken on EL 2978 because more important work programmes were being completed on adjacent tenements, and because the outcomes of that work (i.e. results of geophysical data processing and interpretation, etc.) were considered as being influential towards the design of future work on Katchiwilleroo. During the first year of renewed EL 3906, 1115 line km of helicopter-borne aerial EM survey coverage were flown over most of the subject licence area during October 2007 for Uranium One by contractor Geosolutions Pty Ltd, using a RepTEM instrument platform. The survey was flown along east-west lines spaced 400 m apart, with a mean sensor height of 35 m above the ground surface. The interpreted extensive palaeochannel sediments were regarded as having good exploration potential for roll front style secondary uranium mineral occurrences. No field work was undertaken during licence Year 7. But it is envisaged that a second regional drilling programme consisting of 50+ rotary mud holes will be conducted soon on Katchiwilleroo, to search for redox fronts that may exist south (i.e. 'upstream') of the reduced sedimentary section that was drilled during July-August 2005. The possibly of a downfaulted section will also be explored, since the top of the palaeochannel sequence so far encountered on Katchiwilleroo lies at an appreciably deeper level than do the tops of equivalent sequences on adjacent tenements.

Notes: A corporate change of name from Southern Cross Resources Australia Pty Ltd to Uranium One Australia Pty Ltd was registered on 15/12/2006. The subject EL 3906, and Uranium One's adjoining EL 3905 Goulds Dam, went into joint reporting status during their 2009-2010 tenure year, and a new Envelope (Env 12163) was created to hold subsequent joint annual reports.
