6 contiguous GEL licences (486, 487, 488, 489, 490 and 497) located SSW of lake Frome on the southern edge of the Arrowie Basin were granted to Deep Energy Ltd on 29th May 2009. There were initial commitments to conduct some geophysical exploration, test drilling and one drill-hole to a depth of 3-4000m. However little was achieved in the first term of tenure. Original areas of GEL 486 and 489 were relinquished at the end of the first term and a new licence area of GEL 486 was created out of a consolidation of GEL’s 487, 488, 490 and 497. Temperature logging of water bores in the depth range 100- 150m was proposed but never completed. Licences were surrendered on 28th May 2016 before entering the 3rd year of the second term.
