During base metal exploration conducted in the hills on the eastern side of the Springfield Basin, just south of Cradock township, minor copper and lead anomalies were disclosed by regional stream sediment sampling (1090 samples assayed). There appears to be a direct relation of elevated copper (>60 ppm Cu) to zones of diapiric breccia, with anomalies in the north of the area developed through thick alluvial cover. No significant zinc or lead anomalies are present. In follow-up to barium anomalies detected in the Tapley Hill Formation, Uroonda Siltstone and diapir zone, no barite mineralisation was found. Moderate manganese anomalism was similarly not able to be accounted for. All known mineral prospects within the licence were geologically examined, but none were regarded as having economic potential.
