Exploration undertaken in the vicinity of Reaphook Hill addressed the potential of previously reported anomalous stream sediment zinc and manganese values found in the Wilkawillina Limestone at locations a few miles north of the hill, and also investigated a newly found small occurrence of secondary copper mineralisation within the Wonoka Formation just to the south of the hill. Regional and detailed geological mapping was carried out with the assistance of a consultant geologist and Honours students from the South Australian Institute of Technology and the University of Adelaide. Several thousand rock chip samples were collected at intervals of 20 or 50 feet along geochemical traverses of the target rock units, and submitted for assaying, but no significant base metal anomalies ensued. In view of the lack of encouragement to proceed to drilling any of the surface mineral showings, it was decided to surrender tenure over the ground.
