EL 4496 (Deception Hill) is centred approximately 15 km due south of Tarcoola, and extends from west to east for about 60 km. It is regarded by the licensee as being highly prospective for a range of commodities including gold and silver, nickel, iron ore, tin, and sediment - hosted uranium. Recent mineral discoveries made in the region have included the Tunkillia gold deposit, located 60 km south of Tarcoola within the Yarlbrinda Shear Zone (Indicated Resource 15.5 Mt @ 1.61 g/t Au, equalling ~803,000 oz Au). The historic goldfields at Glenloth, Earea Dam and Tarcoola surround the tenement. The Archaean Harris Greenstone Belt extends across the tenement: this is the only known greenstone belt in SA. EL 4496 was selected for exploring this prospective suite of rocks, that are believed to show strong geological affinities to known Archaean and Proterozoic gold, base metal and nickel producing districts in the world, for example, the Yilgarn Craton of WA and the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in Canada. Compared to the Western Australian greenstone belts, this South Australian area is significantly under-explored. The thin to moderate veneer of alluvium and aeolian sands covering a large portion of the tenure has limited previous exploration. It is also important to note that the historic goldfields surrounding the subject area all outcropped. During licence Year 1, Endeavour Discoveries undertook field reconnaissance visits, collected 11 rock chip samples of selected basement rock outcrops for petrological and mineralogical study, and completed a field orientation surface geochemical sampling program over the tenement focussing on localities that are previously untested or which have past anomalous calcrete results. The thick transported regolith terrain covering the western portion of the tenement is an area with minimal prior exploration, due not only the thick cover of aeolian sands (20 m high sand dunes) but also the difficulty of working in a regional reserve. Trace metal anomaly detection via plant biogeochemistry, if proven to be effective in this terrain, would be a fast, environmentally and culturally low impact geochemical sampling technique to complement geophysics in order to generate drill targets. This surface geochemical sampling program being implemented over the Tarcoola area is part of a collaborative research project being run between Endeavour Discoveries Ltd and the Adelaide University. The principle aim of the project is to test plant biogeochemistry over varying regolith terrains (aeolian sand dunes, alluvial/colliuval cover and residual saprolite) and compare those results with local calcrete sampling data or MMI sampling data. To complement this study, surface sample geochemical data was also collected over the know mineralisation at the historic Glenloth Goldfield (permission granted from ML owners).
