No work took place on the subject licence area, located ~ 60 km south of Oodnadatta on the western side of the Peake and Denison Ranges, during its first four years of tenure. It had been taken up originally to explore for possible undercover roll front style sandstone-hosted secondary uranium mineralisation, and also for possible diamondiferous kimberlite associated with the buried western deep-faulted margin of the Peake and Denison Inliers. Consultant geologist Dr Wenlong Zang was engaged by the licensee to perform desktop prospectivity studies for the Cootanoorina Hill region, but sadly, he fell critically ill and then passed away before this work was completed. During licence Year 5, licence holder Westernx changed its exploration focus to targeting buried primary IOCG mineralisation that might be hosted in haematite-magnetite breccia complexes within the Proterozoic basement. The principal aim was to look for evidence of the extent to which the Peake and Denison Domain basement rocks have been affected by the early Mesoproterozoic (~1590 Ma) thermal event which is associated elsewhere on the Gawler Craton with extensive alteration and mineralisation. Following a review it made of the existing regional geophysical data and of past exploration reports, Westernx proceeded to acquire new detailed ground gravity survey data over the subject EL 4462 and its two adjoining newly granted licence areas to the east, ELs 5487 and 5599 (together now designated as the Cootanoorina IOCG Project). During September-October 2014, Daishsat were contracted to read a total of 1301 new gravity stations across parts of the three licences on initial 500 m x 500 m regular grids that were later infilled in part to 250 m centres. 651 of the new gravity stations were located on EL 4462. 3D inversion modelling of the new gravity data undertaken by licensee parent Kingston Resources Limited defined a number of subtle gravity high features located away from the range front basement exposures, which it was thought could represent IOCG targets, particularly because they appeared to be associated with an interpreted set of north-east trending regional magnetic structures. In January 2015, Westernx applied to DSD for a grant of PACE Initiative Year 8 collaborative drilling project subsidy funding to assist it with drilling a single wildcat exploratory vertical RC/diamond cored hole to 550 m depth to test the Peake Creek IOCG prospect on EL 4462, at a site located near its north-eastern boundary. The application was successful, and $70,000 of public funds were allocated to the company in April under approved PACE Project DPY8-26. This drilling was scheduled to commence in the latter half of 2015.

Notes: EL 4462 has subsequently been renewed over a 14% reduced area as EL 5625. After a successful stock market re-listing made early in 2013, Kingston Resources Limited bought out several junior uranium exploration companies including Westernx Pty Ltd, U Energy Pty Ltd and Fleurieu Mines NL. Westernx has continued to manage EL 4462 until its expiry, and made application late in 2014 for the grant of a subsequent licence, with the outcome noted above. Geographic Locality: Cootanoorina Hill;Oringla Hill;2014 Cootanoorina Gravity Survey [part] Doc No: Env 12738
