The subject now relinquished portion of EL 5723 forms part of a much larger multi-tenement package currently being explored by Perilya, primarily looking for zinc silicate mineralisation similar to that occurring at the Beltana deposit. Overall, the Neoproterozoic and Cambrian bedrock within the project area is also thought to be prospective for lead-zinc sulphide and copper mineralisation. The only field work that was completed by Perilya on the now relinquished portion of the licence was detailed geochemical sampling of the historic Linda lead-zinc prospect and its surrounds, carried out during 2013 initially via hand-held Niton instrumental XRF spectrometric scans of soil samples (1005 readings taken), plus follow-up selective rock chip sampling (27 samples sent for laboratory major and trace element analyses). The most detailed part of the in-field portable XRF soil survey, undertaken along north-south prospect traverses spaced 100m apart, defined a strong but isolated response coincident with the immediate area of surface mineralisation shows, with the base metal anomalism ranging up to maximum values of 9449 ppm Zn and 5582 ppm Pb. However, the extent of the anomalous ground disclosed was only ~ 150 m x 150 m. The less detailed soil sampling conducted over Cambrian strata in the surrounding area to the north and east, along 600 m to 800 m spaced north-south traverses, failed to detect significant base metal concentrations, with maximum values of 423 ppm Zn, 285 ppm Pb and 83 ppm Cu returned. The only other exploration data collected over the now relinquished portion of the licence form a subset of Aster multispectral data purchased by Perilya in late 2011, which covered the entirety of its tenement holdings in the region. These data were primarily used to identify prospective carbonate host strata using quartz index ratios, and potential haematite alteration using iron index ratios. On EL 5723, the carbonate strata of interest were those of the Lower Cambrian lying adjacent to the fault-bounded contact with Proterozoic-aged rocks, as exist in the vicinity of the Linda prospect.
