In a continuation of uranium exploration being carried out over the oldest basement rocks forming inliers to the Adelaide Geosyncline within the southern Mount Lofty Ranges, several minor radiometric anomalies near Myponga, that were indicated by the licensee's airborne scintillometer survey carried out in 1968, appear to be associated with outcrops of Archaean metasediments and/or the laterites overlying them. No significant radioactivity was detected during follow-up ground inspections of these anomalies. Furthermore, a critical examination of the results of previous SADM exploratory work done at the abandoned Wild Dog mine also indicates that the known uranium mineralisation does not extend far beyond the extent of the old workings, probably because of the attenuation of the subordinate mineralised antiformal structure. No more work on this SML is therefore intended.
