Five exploration licences on southern Eyre Peninsula have been explored by Centrex Metals for possible buried economic magnetite mineralisation. Portions of the two subject ELs were recently relinquished due to their perceived diminished prospectivity for this commodity. The only work done on the relinquished ground was the drilling of a single exploratory inclined diamond hole to TD 311.5 m (273 m true vertical depth) on EL 3877 during October-November 2011, to test an interpreted linear magnetic anomaly which potentially could represent magnetic BIF horizons within Palaeoproterozoic Hutchison Group strata. However, the only basement rocks encountered were granitic gneisses of the older Donington Suite. The HQ/NQ drill core from hole REDD003 was geologically logged, and gamma ray, density and magnetic susceptibility tool measurements were collected from the upper part of the open hole by later wireline logging, but no core samples were taken for assaying.
