Cross Keys Mining Pty Ltd were granted EL 5847 on 9th September 2016. EL 5847 is in the Northern Flinders Ranges and covers approximately 67 square km. Both copper and gold have been worked historically within the tenement area. Within the tenement area brecciated rock mass and associated hematite and magnetite on the surface – often a significant indicator for IOCG occurrences, along with the presence of the Pinda Diapir within the tenement area and forms the focus of the company’s exploration program. During the first reporting year, Cross Keys undertook a desktop review of all available historical exploitation and mining data to determine the potential for the region to produce an economic mineral resource, with a focus on copper and gold. Cross Keys undertook a surface geochemical reconnaissance survey over a portion of the tenement. A total of 117 soil readings were taken using the Olympus portable XRF InnovX handheld system, with each site being cleared of detritus and compacted by hand before the reading was taken. Cross Keys believe that the initial results obtained in the survey are encouraging enough to warrant continued exploration within the area for further indicators of potential economic IOCG deposits. During the second reporting year Cross Keys undertook further soil sampling, with 57 soil and 3 grab samples collected on a 250 x 250 m grid for geochemical analysis. Samples were submitted to Australian Laboratory Services for trace Au and multielement analysis. Moderate copper values, along with results from the previous reporting period and open file data, are seen as supportive for further exploration by the company.
