An area centred ~30 km north-east of Bookaloo, which is mostly located within the Lake Torrens National Park, is being explored primarily for possible buried economic IOCG style mineralisation of the type exemplified by major deposits occurring at Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill. During licence Year 1, activities comprised: - the compilation and review of existing data; - preparation of 1:250,000 scale magnetic and gravity data images for the EL 4574 area; - an anthropologist was commissioned to conduct a desktop study of a line of springs which extend from the eastern shore to the western shore of Lake Torrens, including into the Carrapateena Arm of the lake; - priority negotiations between Straits and land stakeholders were begun for obtaining approved surface exploration access onto another licence area, EL 4296, also part of Straits' Torrens Project. This EL, which is subject to a joint venture between Straits and Kelaray Pty Ltd, is also located on Lake Torrens, and is centred approximately 25 km north-west of EL 4574. No work took place on the subject tenement during licence Year 2. Access to EL 4296 is presently denied due to Native Title and aboriginal Heritage issues related to the Lake Torrens recorded site as described on aboriginal Heritage Site card number 6436-7237. Both EL 4296 and most of EL 4574 are covered by this site that is under Ministerial jurisdiction based on the South Australia Aboriginal Heritage Act 1988; that Act currently does not allow surface access there for mineral exploration purposes. All reasonable endeavours are currently being pursued by Straits to negotiate access to EL 4296 for exploration purposes. Unfortunately, if such access cannot be negotiated, then no exploration can be undertaken. However, if access for exploration purposes can somehow be achieved in the case of EL 4296, then this may also provide a means to get access to EL 4574.
