The heavy mineral placer deposits at Morrison Beach occur on four separate beach levels, as determined from scout boring along a number of traverses. Bulk sampling and heavy mineral analyses were used to calculate the quantities of rutile and of zircon present in each deposit. It is estimated that 4229 tonnes of rutile and 3311 tons of zircon are present. About 72,000 cubic yards of barren sand, mainly in the dune area, would have to be removed to work the deposits, after which about 50,000 tons of mineralised sand would require shifting for treatment.
