Two separate areas covering parts of the Nundroo Range, a prominent south-west facing, yet effectively previously undrilled, preserved palaeogeomorphic beach ridge /coastal dune features which lies ~10 km west of Fowlers Bay and extends for 70 km to the north-northeast, have been explored for possible economic buried Pleistocene heavy mineral sands (HM). Prior to Iluka Resources Limited purchasing the subject EL 5477 from Fowler Resources Pty Ltd on 3/2/2015, Fowler had done no on-ground exploration of it. Iluka likewise has since then done no on-ground exploration on the two relinquished portions of the tenement. Iluka initially thought that the Nundroo Range represents evidence of a Pleistocene marine incursion into the Tertiary Eucla Basin, and the company interpreted a scenario where, at the innermost extent of the incursion, a large volume of Miocene Nullarbor Limestone became eroded and may therefore have formed locally a scarp/headland type placer depositional environment for the Bridgewater Formation that could entrap heavy minerals being transported by long-shore drift currents. Subsequently, after giving the matter further consideration, Iluka has deemed that the relinquished portions of the tenement hold no HM prospectivity.
