Southern Ventures reviewed data from previous drilling carried out by Chevron Exploration on EL 40 in 1972, before open rotary drilling 11 vertical holes (total penetration 1262 m) to follow up low grade uranium mineralisation and to trace possible oxidation fronts which had been reported by Chevron. The latest drilling encountered a weakly radioactive cell in the south-western corner of the licence, containing minor concentrations of uranium (0.005% - 0.01% eU308) at a sand/shale interface.
