An area centred ~90 km north-east of Streaky Bay was taken under licence to explore for possible economic underground concentrations of dissolved potassium, lithium, boron and magnesium which may have become ponded within stagnant groundwater lenses that it is thought could exist within long-lived aquifers related to Tertiary palaeochannels. The extensive Gawler Range Volcanics outcrop lying north-east of EL 5905 was thought to offer an excellent source of these elements, which through prolonged Cenozoic erosion would have been feeding into local palaeochannel brines and evaporative mineral systems. The nearby Narlaby Palaeochannel was also regarded by Minotaur as a potential host for unconformity or roll front-related secondary uranium mineralisation. Work undertaken by Minotaur during the first year of tenure included performing desktop reviews of existing data about palaeochannels, brines and evaporites, researching new developments in leaching technologies, and conducting a reconnaissance field trip and sampling brine from within a pre-existing roadside drillhole. Unfortunately, analyses of the sampled brine did not yield results that would warrant follow-up, and so it was decided to surrender the tenement.
