Detailed geological and structural mapping of Samin's partly excavated new Burra open cut was performed by the author at a scale of 1:480 during the period December 1972 to end of January 1973. By the latter date the pit had been excavated downwards a vertical distance of approx. 30 m towards its final designed depth of 100 m below the original central point surface elevation.
