Exploration for possible economic stratabound phosphate mineralisation within Cambrian sediments of the northern Flinders Ranges comprised 51 miles of stratigraphic traversing, the field testing of every bed with indicator reagents able to reveal contained phosphate, and the collection of 86 rock chip samples for assaying. Only 8 of the samples returned values of >1% P, with the best assay results being obtained from two beds within the Arrowie Syncline that have phoshorus contents of 1.65% and 1.86% P respectively. It was decided that both occurrences are very small in extent and would be unsuitable for quarrying.
