In continuing exploration for possible buried economic kimberlite diamond deposits that may have been intruded into Mesozoic and older basement and later become weathered out into cover sediments located along the western faulted margin of the Peake and Denison Ranges, a small area was taken up to investigate selected airborne magnetic anomalies. The licensee believed that abundant detrital kimberlitic picroilmenite and spinel, plus numerous pyrope garnet and a chrome diopside grain recovered from the nearby basinal region to the west provided evidence that kimberlite exists in close proximity. During the first licence year, the licensee conducted a ground magnetic survey over target zones to obtain detailed magnetic data that could be used to model the anomalies' sources and determine if they could plausibly represent kimberlite intrusions. A total of ~110 line km of magnetometer readings were taken along north-south traverses spaced either 50 m or 100 m apart in August 2016, but interpretation of the magnetic data did not confirm the anomalies profiled. Further work on the subject licence was delayed until the outcome was known of exploratory diamond drilling conducted on the adjacent EL 5580, which was scheduled to occur during July 2017. No work was done on EL 5780 during its second year, and tenure was allowed to lapse thereafter.
