Exploration activities during the 2016 licence reporting period included the acquisition and interpretation of open file geophysical datasets, development and interpretation of already compiled in-house historic drill hole and geochemical data, and undertaking a synthesis of regional geological datasets including MT, seismic, gravity, isotopic and local and regional geology. During the 2017 reporting period, a helicopter-based heritage reconnaissance survey was carried out to facilitate obtaining clearances to allow for on-ground access for a planned gravity survey. The 500 m x 500 m grid-based ground gravity program over the licence was completed in September 2017, with 1498 gravity stations collected from within the now surrendered area. Preliminary data processing, validation and merging with existing SARIG gravity data was completed. In addition to the geophysical survey, collection and interpretation of historic exploration data continued. Extensive negotiations with pastoralists and Native Title claimant groups were also carried out. The area selected for relinquishment was deemed by Fortescue to have low potential to host the products of an IOCG mineralising system.
