Exploration Licence 5999 “Cartarpo” covers an area of 112 square km in the states mid-north between Hallett and Booborowie, northwest of the township of Burra. Historic mine workings “Cartarpo Mine” was worked for copper and cobalt between 1867-1872, with failed follow up work in 1879 and 1883. There is thought to be strong structural link with the historic Burra Copper Mines. During the first licence year, several reconnaissance field trips were made to the tenement to locate both the Cartarpo Mine and Murphy’s Mine. A single shaft, two mine adits and several shallow diggings were located for Cartarpo, while no evidence of Murphy’s Mine were identified in the field. During these reconnaissance trips 94 soil samples from around Cartarpo and surrounds were collected for XRF and partial leach analysis, plus 6 rock samples were also collected. The company also collated previous open file exploration data to refine their exploration efforts. Opportunistic rock grab sampling from the norther mine adit and pit returned highly anomalous Co, Ag and REE, while soil sampling failed to identify any trends within any element. The company believe that the control on the mineralisation is structurally controlled by an NNW-SSE trending linear feature identified in the regional aeromagnetic data, and is independent of stratigraphic Tarcowie-Waukaringa contact.
