An area located ~100 km north-west of Kimba, on the southern margin of the Gawler Ranges, is being explored by Investigator Resources for a variety of styles and types of precious and base metal epithermal mineralisation that may have formed in similar settings to that of the nearby Paris silver deposit discovered in 2011. A number of known and interpreted structural features, particularly the buried Uno Fault, are regarded as possible loci for mineralisation, but a moderate level of past exploration activity had failed to resolve any firm targets, and consequently no drilling has yet occurred within the tenement area. The licensee decided to conduct grid-based reconnaissance soil geochemical sampling over an inferred demagnetised zone seen on magnetic images of the Uno Fault, which zone lies only 8 km north-west of Paris prospect and could easily be due to alteration and attendant mineralisation in basement volcanic rocks hidden under cover there. Accordingly, 315 minus 2 mm size fraction samples were collected during October-November 2012 and submitted for laboratory assaying, but the results are not yet to hand. Examination of Landsat and Aster satellite images also revealed an iron spectral anomaly within the southern part of EL 4827 that coincides with a major north-west aligned magnetic trend passing through Paris prospect on adjoining EL 4228 Peterlumbo Hill. It was thought that this anomaly may also indicate that prospective magnetite destruction has occurred within the Gawler Range Volcanics. During licence Year 2, Investigator undertook infill soil geochemical sampling over a small area near the licence southern boundary where its earlier reconnaissance soil sampling had detected coincident but weak silver/gold/copper anomalism. The infill results confirmed the anomalism but did not advance its tenor. Five grab rock chip samples taken from within the demagnetised zone were assayed and submitted for petrographic thin section description. No trace metal anomalism or observed mineralisation were reported. Low level, high resolution aerial photography was also carried out during the year as part of wider coverage of a number of Investigator tenements located close to the southern margin of the Gawler Range Volcanics Domain. During licence Year 3, Investigator collected 77 soil samples from an area in the south-eastern corner of EL 4827 that appeared to have an unusual ASTER signature, similar to that seen the Paris discovery area. However the sample assay results were generally low in silver and other target metals, so no follow-up work there was deemed necessary. During licence Year 4, Investigator collected and assayed a further 107 soil samples, with discouraging results. 14 new gravity stations were read on the tenement as part of a survey centred over the Uno Fault on the adjacent Thurlga EL 5419, where Investigator is exploring in a joint venture with Adelaide Resources. The new gravity data extension subset did not disclose any stated features of interest. No further field work was done on the subject tenement during the succeeding three years, before a decision was made to allow its tenure to lapse.
