A large area centred ~15 km to the south-east of Algebuckina on the Oodnadatta Track has been explored for possible buried economic IOCG type basement-hosted mineralisation, that may have formed within Paleo- to Mesoproterozoic rocks like those hosting IOCG deposits elsewhere in the Gawler Craton. Because EL 6427 lay close to the attenuated north-eastern edge of the craton, it was though to perhaps contain deep crustal structures capable of acting as conduits for hydrothermal ore forming systems. During the two years of tenure, no field work was done. Desktop geophysical investigations included the image reprocessing of available aeromagnetic survey data by Archimedes Consulting in August-September 2020, to produce a 3D model of magnetic susceptibility point data from across the area, down to a depth of around 4-5 km, and to map, in 3D data cube format, potential magnetite-dominated breccia forming pipe-like structures typical of major IOCG deposits such as Olympic Dam and Ernest Henry. Standard transformations, special filters and Archimedes’ unique and proprietary Automatic Curve Matching (ACM) imaging method were applied to the magnetic data before they were statistically analysed and interpreted. This intensive workflow was designed to define potentially prospective exploration targets of non-stratigraphic origin, and to specify the location of test-drilling sites and likely target depths. Magnetic structure/fault models were generated at various depths, and a 3D model of the top of crystalline basement. A total of 57 clusters of high-susceptibility magnetic sources were detected, spread across most of the licence area, of which 15 clusters were selected as potential IOCG volcanic breccia pipe type exploration targets and were ranked using a series of criteria. Three of these targets having coincident gravity highs (nos 1, 14 and 16) were given high priority for drill testing.
